Elon Musk teases return of Vine app

Rus Yusupov, co-founder of Vine, has launched a meme coin named #VineCoin, sparking nostalgia for the once-popular short-form video app. This release comes at a time when there’s growing interest in Vine’s potential revival, adding to the buzz around its legacy.

Just days before Yusupov’s announcement, Elon Musk hinted at bringing Vine back. When tagged in a post suggesting its return, Musk replied, “We’re looking into it.” A poll from last year showed nearly 70% of users supported the idea, and sources revealed Musk had asked engineers to explore rebooting the platform.

Vine, acquired by Twitter in 2012, reached 200 million active users at its peak before being shut down in 2017. With increasing discussions about its return, many social media fans are eager to see if Vine will make a comeback.

Apple reportedly gives up on its AR glasses project

iDrop News

Apple was working on augmented reality glasses powered by Mac computers, but the project was recently scrapped, according to Bloomberg. The device, while running visionOS, was never meant to replace the Vision Pro. However, after internal tests, Apple decided to cancel it due to poor performance and shifting feature priorities.

Initially, Apple had planned to power the glasses with an iPhone, but it lacked the processing capacity and drained the phone’s battery. The glasses featured built-in displays, projected information, and could change lens tint depending on the user’s activity. They were lighter than the Vision Pro and designed for everyday use.

The cancellation comes as Apple faces challenges with the Vision Pro, which hasn’t been as popular as expected. Despite this setback, the company is still focused on developing a successor and future AR glasses.

OpenAI launches new o3-mini reasoning model

OpenAI has launched o3-mini, a faster, more accurate reasoning model now available to free ChatGPT users. For the first time, they can access a reasoning model by selecting the "Reason" button. This upgrade improves response speed and accuracy, making AI-powered reasoning more accessible.

Compared to its predecessor, o1-mini, o3-mini is 24% faster and rivals the more advanced o1 system in math, coding, and science tasks. It also integrates with ChatGPT Search, providing real-time web info and source links. OpenAI plans to expand search across all reasoning models.

With o3-mini’s release, OpenAI makes high-quality AI more affordable, cutting per-token pricing by 95% since GPT-4. Plus and Team ChatGPT users now get 150 messages daily—triple the previous limit—enhancing access to smarter, cost-effective AI.
